The 11-Point Plan

Establishing 11 mechinot near Gaza

The 11-Point Plan, an initiative sparked by Operation Swords of Iron, is predicated on the importance of building up communities in border areas and doing all that is necessary to rehabilitate communities near Gaza. The new mechinot and mechina branches established under the plan will bolster existing mechinot in northern Israel, near Gaza, and in the Western Negev, regions where the mechina presence already serves as a bulwark of support, volunteering, and education.

Yachad

Integrating young people from abroad in the mechinot

Yachad brings young Jews and children of Israelis from dozens  of countries worldwide to mechina. These students come to Israel to experience the country and undergo a year of personal development and empowerment. Some choose to join the IDF after graduating. Yachad builds meaningful connections and strengthens the ties that bind Jewish communities around the world to Israel.

Be’Artzeinu

The umbrella organization of mechina alumni

Be’Artzeinu creates opportunities for the tens of thousands of mechina alumni to live their values as adults. Be’Artzeinu encourages alumni to make good on the values of social engagement, leadership, and service deep in Israeli public activity, security, education, social affairs, and national affairs while strengthening their identity and their connection to other Jews and Israelis.

Since the first mechina was founded in 1988, the mechinot have given tens of thousands of young Israelis an education with the values of social leadership, national duty, Zionism, and giving back. Every year, over 30 percent of officer course and flight school graduates are mechina alumni, and thousands of alumni take up leadership roles in all fields. The mechina year is one of the most meaningful in students’ lives: full of experiences, learning, giving back, preparation for meaningful military service, personal development, and friendships for life.
